In a slight divergence from canon, Cid Garlond never became primus architechus magiteci- he did not accept the promotion, having been more concerned with grief for his father before his defection. Cei nan Aldrich, meanwhile, had been a more stable and prepared candidate for the role, and took the promotion readily- as they had planned to, having had a role in the events leading to the death of Midas nan Garlond. They have now kept this position for many years, and they became close with Solus zos Galvus—though they seemed oddly unphased by his passing. Perhaps his decline had prepared them.Traits:
Cei moves with purpose and elegance, never betraying weakness or exhaustion even when ill. They are soft-spoken and hard to read even when their entire face is visible, though it rarely is, and their movements and body language are similarly minimal. At times, they fidget, wring their hands or tense their shoulders, usually when thinking or tense, and they tend to stare almost constantly despite their blindness. Abandoned as an infant due to their poor health, Cei was found, adopted, and raised by a single mother, Herse Aldrich, on only her low wage as a maid. Growing up, the majority of the household income was spent on what little treatment Herse could afford for Cei alongside their tutoring and homeschooling, as Cei was unable to attend a public school when their phobia of other children developed due to their OCD. Cei quickly grew out of primary school levels and was sent to high school early with some specialized accomodations. At this point, they began to receive scholarships and race through grades, and realised that the path out of poverty and into recognition was through their intelligence. Thus began the seeds of an obsession with their own intelligence and what it could get them and their mother. Cei began to work feverishly, graduating early at thirteen and moving to higher education, quickly setting their eyes on the highest technological position in the Garlean Empire.Psychology:
Cei is autistic, germophobic, and mildly haphephobic, alongside suffering a phobia of babies and children. They are incredibly emotionally absent and suffer from ARFID, severe generalized anxiety, OCD, and bipolar disorder. They also have ADHD and ASPD, the latter of which they refuse treatment for, as they believe it pointless to attempt to learn empathy for the sake of others.On a more specific note, Cei suffers a superiority complex, believing themself one of the most intelligent people in the world. They believe that they were abandoned because they were 'not enough', hate anyone who looks down on them, and they seek to a deranged degree to prove that they are more than anyone could have believed, at any cost. They also have an obsession with prolonging both their own life and the life of their mother, as they do not want to live without the one person to consistently support them, and they do not want her to have to live without them as she grows older.Physiology:
Cei suffers from extreme weakness in the arms, legs, and back, and use technology that they created themself in order to aid movement and provide strength. They are also hypermobile. Most notably, Cei suffers from Marfan syndrome, a disorder that affects connective tissue. Other effects of their Marfan syndrome include mitral valve prolapse, nearsightedness, elongated frame, fatigue, and severe chronic pain. They are also albino and suffer from a strong sensitivity to light, and unrelated chronic pain. They are underweight and suffer from headaches and temperature sensitivity as well. They receive consistent treatment for their Marfan syndrome.When they were in their early 20s, they were caught in an explosion which sent shrapnel into various places, taking out one of their eyes, damaging their lungs, and giving them some minor brain damage and general weakness. The latter three issues they managed to treat with technology after relearning of motor skills and lost information, but they still have an eye patch (which takes constant readings of their surroundings), and wear a mask that aids their breathing in case the technology in their chest ceases to function properly. While they were implementing the technology in their chest for their breathing, they also put some tech in and around their heart to ensure its continued function and protection in case of heart failure or another explosion.They wear an eyepatch over their missing eye with sensors built into it, which connect to their brain. These sensors do not usually give direct footage, but rather aetheric data presented in a visual format similar to heat-sensing gear, typically set to dim and monochromatic. They are able to switch it to footage, but rarely do so, finding it overwhelming after years of blindness on that side. Their good eye is effectively blind as well, able to catch colours but not much more due to extreme nearsightedness and nystagmus; they wear contacts to deal with this.Appearance:
Cei is tall and thin, with long limbs and digits, thanks to Marfan Syndrome. They are very pale-skinned with short, straight, grey and white hair. Their "good" eye is pale grey, their other eye is missing and scarred over. Their eyepatch covers this, and they wear a mask over their lower face. The rest of their body is typically covered as well, under layered dark, tailored clothes and black gloves to combat the cold of Garlemald. Underneath, their ribs are visible, and they are dotted with various scars from surgery and the explosion, along with some visible tech embedded in their body.Abilities:
Thanks to the technology strengthening them and aiding them through their various disabilities, and a history of injuries resulting in a high pain tolerance, Cei has extreme endurance, and can keep going where a normal body would fail. They are best with ranged combat, experienced in machinery, and have some ability with magitek healing apparatuses reminiscent of Sharlayan nouliths. These apparatuses can only be used by them, as they are connected to technology embedded in their spine, and they channel aether into Cei's body to heal them as well as have sensors built into them that allow Cei to see. When in their lab, they are known to use a mechanical tentacle plugged into the port in their spine as an extra limb, and this limb does hold some healing capacity as well, largely to manage their chronic pain.Aside from combat, Cei is incredibly intelligent, especially regarding matters of technology, aether, and humanoid bodies. They are also very skilled with tailoring, cooking (though they rarely eat the results and are picky with what they will make), the piano, and the organ.Likes:

Cei is also known as the Ascian Deudalaphon. I have some concerns that Dawntrail and its post-expansion will interfere with this, but fuck it, we ball. They became an Ascian at 32, over fifteen years ago. They have also secretly taken measures to subtly prolong their mother's life, but she is not immortal.Cei's voiceclaim is Silco from Arcane, or Vulpes Inculta from Fallout: New Vegas (same voice actor).

Worlds

Deudalaphon:
Their primary verse. Cei is the Ascian Deudalaphon, ascended to their immortal status by Emet-Selch some time after they became the Primus Architechus Magiteci, some years before the death of Solus zos Galvus. After the death of Solus, they became somewhat distant with the fate of Garlemald, having already known that Emet-Selch had set it up to collapse. Their sole concern, for a time, was to protect their mother, but they have other concerns, now. Their studies center around the creation of a sort of aetheric thread, and how it can affect and interact with the soul. As stated in their main dossier, they avoid combat despite their power as a convocation member, preferring to appear peacefully. Because of this, they are sometimes called upon by Elidibus to work as an ambassador or to gather information.A False Unsundering:
In a world where they were ascended some time ago, and their mother has since passed, Cei threw themself into their work as an Ascian, studying alternate methods to unsunder a soul besides calamity. With their studies on aetheric thread, they attempted to sew their shards together, but their other shards were... Not so cooperative. The result is an erratic being with faulty memories and quite a bit of mania to spare.The World Unsundered:
Coeus is a kind and warm ancient, friendly, if a bit haphazard at times. Regardless, they do their job as Deudalaphon, the authority on technology, very well. How such a cruel shard could come from such a friendly soul, one can only wonder, but they do still have their similarities, albeit subtle. They specialize in technology designed to serve as aids to the disabled, and to heighten the abilities of even the able.Civilian:
Cei bas Aldrich is a tailor working in Garlemald, a quiet soul, but observant. This verse is rarely used, and generally only with plotting from established rp partners.

Rumors

For those familiar with Garlean politics or matters of the palace:- It is said that Dr. Aldrich worked in the Dalamud project for a time, but left Bozja mere days before the incident which razed the city. Some suspect foul play.- Dr. Aldrich always brings their mother to royal events as their guest. It's a bit odd, but sweet.- It's hard to tell beneath the mask, but some claim that Dr. Aldrich has, in all their time as Primus Architechus Magiteci, not aged a single year.- Some say that after the explosion that took their eye, the good Doctor had to unlearn a stammer. Isn't that silly? Don't ask them about it, though. I hear they hate it.For those unfamiliar with them entirely:- Why do they wear that gas mask everywhere? They only remove it to eat—even drinks are taken from a straw.- Speaking of eating, half the time, they forgo it entirely, and sip from some odd nutrient gel packet through a straw, too. Bit rude, when they're in venues.- Some may notice that the doctor almost seems to sense their surroundings better on the side where they are missing an eye. Their face tends to follow things with it.

Hello there! My name is Cannibal. Before we get into rules and details, I must first preface with this: I have had some very unfortunate experiences with ingame roleplay, and have been left with horrendous anxiety and frequent panic attacks as a result. As such, I am mostly available on discord, and tend to avoid ingame roleplay in group settings, though I'm very much happy to interact when I'm on (or when I am requested specifically), especially one on one. Just know that I may have to step away frequently.

RULES

- I am an adult and will only interact with other adults aged 21+. This goes for both SFW and NSFW content.- No OOC bigotry will be tolerated. I am happy to educate, mistakes are one thing, but if you are a bigoted person, I will not interact with you. Period.- IC bigotry must be discussed OOC with me. I am very much a believer that IC beliefs are separate from OOC beliefs, but I also must be cautious. In addition, my characters will not take well to IC bigotry, and will react accordingly, with consequences discussed OOC ranging from arguments to violence. If we cannot agree on a consequence that you are comfortable with and that my characters would be satisfied with, my characters will walk away.- On a related point, if my character is mad at or uncomfortable with your character, it does not mean that I, OOC, am mad at or uncomfortable with you, OOC. If your character is argumentative, rude, et cetera, I don't mind that, but please expect IC consequences for IC words and actions. If having my character mad at your character is stressful or uncomfortable for you, I can leave the interaction, but I will not have them tolerate things they would not normally tolerate.- I may have to go afk at any time, suddenly and without warning. When this happens, I will post something like "((afk brb))". I may even have to leave entirely, and of course, I will give some indication if I do. Please do not take offence. Please do not take it as my character ignoring what is happening in front of them. I do not want my OOC emergencies to affect my IC interactions. If the wait goes long, you are welcome to have your character walk away. We can discuss OOC what the interaction might have entailed, or even continue it at a later date.- During IC conflicts such as arguments and other such tense moments, I get very anxious, due to past experience with others having IC feelings bleed into their OOC feelings, resulting in either resentment towards me, or them believing I held resentment towards them. Due to this, I have a strict rule for conflicts with me: We must have a conversation OOC during the IC conflict, so that I can read your OOC tone. It can just be light chatter, talking about the interaction. I don't want you to reassure me constantly; that's a ridiculous expectation. I just want to be sure that the person I am interacting with is having a good time. So long as that is happening, I will have a very good time as well!- Lastly, if my character form an in-depth dynamic IC with your character, such as a close friendship or romantic relationship, I will want your discord. It is generally better for me to write these deep dynamics in a place I am more comfortable and will be able to write frequently, and ingame is not it. In fact, I am unlikely to accept any romance ingame, as I do not want to tie another person's character into a relationship when I know I will be unavailable most of the time. If I do plot a relationship with you, please know that my character would be meeting yours more frequently than I am OOC able to do. Please imagine more IC quality time together that's simply... behind the scenes! They would not be an absent or neglectful partner. "Long time no see" is 100% fine for characters that aren't close, but I'll feel guilty and bad if I get hit with an "I missed you" from an IC loved one of my character implying my character just left them alone for that long.

PREFERENCES

I am a mostly lore abiding fellow, but I approach lore with the idea of "how can I make this idea work", not "ew, that person seems totally out of place"! Unusual, immortal, cool and crazy characters are super, super welcome! All that matters to me is that these characters are coming from a place of love and passion for this setting, or at least your character and the story you want to tell with them and with their interactions.I am happy to write flirtation, whether sexual or romantic, and plot out all sorts of dynamics. However, I will never write anything sexually explicit ingame. I'd prefer we keep that, as well as romance, to discord. However, I can still be persuaded to ship ingame... I may be weak, haha.
